Why Zenless Zone Zero Will Likely Get Another Class & What It Could Be

Why Zenless Zone Zero Will Likely Get Another Class & What It Could Be

It's possible that the gacha game will add another specialization or category in a few years as Zenless Zone Zero continues. Zenless is another huge success for the HoyoVerse, blending fast-paced combat with familiar elements of gameplay. It has a more refined feel than Genshin Impact, but adds more user influence than Star Rail. The title has already racked up huge profits and two nominations at The Game Awards, proving its success.

Currently, Zenless divides characters into five categories. Attacks and anomalies are the main damage dealers, focusing on different areas, such as Zenless Zone Zero's Chaos damage. Meanwhile, stun, support, and defense all focus on debuffing enemies while protecting or buffing DPS units. The latter three do an excellent job with each hybrid unit without feeling locked into a single job.

HoYoverse Will Likely Push for Another Class

A Consistent Trend

Depending on how HoYoverse handled its previous games, it might launch another category. The most obvious reason is money. When Genshin Impact releases Dendro and Star Rail is about to release Path of Memory, they will likely be released in a powerful state. This urge to want the next best thing, especially given the studio's track record with engaging characters, is a huge boost for the game.

The other side of the push is a gameplay refresh. When Dendro came along, the same teams were often used with little mixing. This powerful new element has incredible synergy with Pyro, Hydro, and Electro, giving the game a nice refresh. Although it hasn't been released yet, Memorial Road could be crucial to Honkai Impact, given that its content is often tuned for new characters. Regardless, it's always nice to see new ways to fight.

What Classes Could Come To Zenless Zone Zero

Filling Out The Gaps

Based on HoYoverse’s experience and what Zenless is missing, there are two potential new categories. The first is the healer. Currently, the only consistent way to heal characters in the game is to use pickups or game mode buffs. However, the number and uses of healers in Zenless should be limited. Survival is a key part of combat in this game, and having a character who can heal all damage pales into insignificance. One caveat to this idea is that future characters of the current class may get healing in their gear.

If Zenless adds a novel-only mode like Honkai Impact: Star Trails, or shifts to a more quantity-focused combat experience, having classes built specifically for that purpose would be a huge boon.

The second level may be similar to the Erudite path in Honkai Impact: Star Trails. Characters in Zenless are either good or bad, and depending on their skills, they have a ton of enemies. While most battles are centered around a few weak enemies and one or two larger enemies, that may not always be the case. If Zenless adds a novel-only mode like Honkai Impact: Star Trails, or shifts to a more quantity-focused combat experience, having classes built specifically for that purpose would be a huge boon.

An alternative to adding new classes is to add new elements. This won't be as game-changing as a new career, but it has a bright side. New elements can mean new enemies are weak to it and change the gameplay. It will also bring new elemental effects to abnormal characters. Depending on how HoYoverse wants to move forward, this might be the more likely option, and while it wouldn't be as impactful, it would still be a positive.

How Will A New Class Effect Zenless's Future

A Refresh And Rebirth

The new profession coming to Wuzen Zero Zone could have a ripple effect. The most obvious is the new team combinations it can bring. Whether a DPS or support class, characters from the past may return to power or create unique new team compositions. This is one thing Star Rail does better than Genshin, where most of the old characters are still usable in some way. Even before Memory Road was released, Jingyuan had ascended to a new level of power due to his hybrid state with Summons.

The second area of impact is gameplay. As mentioned before, a new class may have new mechanics or enemies to combat it or justify its creation. An example might be a new type of enemy that deals damage through a shield, meaning it's better to have a healer in this encounter. This creates a new type of experience while giving players a reason to get the various agents ready for battle.

Anything that shakes up Zenless in a few years will be an overall win for the game. New updates are always welcome, but after years of the same core loop, things can get a little tiresome. This is another feat that Star Rail has done better by adding consistent new game modes, and while Genshin has been better at this recently, it desperately needs Dendro to return in version 3.0. Zenless is of course following the progression of Star Trail rather than Genshin Impact, so that bodes well for the long-term health of the game.

Overall, while there may be new classes or elements in Zenless, it's completely unpredictable. Both previous games had hints and hints about new content, and Zenless was a little too early for that. Maybe one hint that would be acceptable is Yaya and her dual element, but that could be a one-time thing or something completely different. These are the most likely reasons for Zenless Zone Zero to add another class or element and its options.
